Want 8 months free groceries?

March 11, 2010

That’s what working women will get when Congress passes the Paycheck Fairness Act. Seems like a no brainer to me. Women win, sons, husbands, fathers and male friends win.

According to the National Partnership for Women and Families:

In 2009, the difference in wages for a full time working woman and a full time working man was $162 per week (or $8,424 per year) and the average cost of groceries per week for a family of four under the USDA’s liberal plan was $264.10.

More than four decades after Congress outlawed wage discrimination based on gender, women in the United States are still paid only 77 cents for every dollar paid to their white male counterparts. For women of color, the numbers are even worse.

The Act has passed the House and is now in the Senate. All you need to do is contact your US Senators and tell them to pass it. The National Partnership has made it easy for you to do so via a draft email you can submit directly from its website. It will only take 4 seconds of your time….

Question is: How can you not do it??
